PUMPKIN AND PEANUT BUTTER DOG TREATS

PUMPKIN AND PEANUT BUTTER DOG TREATS

In celebration of National Peanut Butter Month, here is a recipe for pumpkin and peanut butter dog treats.

First things first, the ingredients:

  • 2 ½ Cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • ½ Cup Canned Pumpkin
  • 2 Tablespoons of peanut butter (I used all natural, no sugar added peanut butter)
  • ½ Teaspoon salt
  • ½ Teaspoon cinnamon
  • A small amount of water

You’ll also need a cookie sheet and something to cut out your treats with. A bone-shaped cookie cutter works great.

The next step is to preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). After that, just dump all the ingredients in a bowl and stir them until combined (yes, it’s that easy). You can use a whisk or a spoon to combine the ingredients. Add water by the teaspoon if you’re having trouble getting everything to come together. The dough’s final consistency should be dry and stiff, but still workable.

Once everything is combined, roll the dough out to about ¼ inch thickness. Putting some of the whole wheat flour on your work surface as well as the rolling pin will help to ensure nothing sticks.

Next, cut out your treats using the tool of your choice and arrange them on a nonstick cooking sheet.

The last step was to bake them for 45 minutes until hard and then cool completely. These will make your house smell delightful.

Store the treats in a Ziplock bag and be sure to keep an eye on them for freshness. They aren’t packed with preservatives like store-bought treats, so they will spoil faster.  We know your dogs will love these pumpkin and peanut butter dog treats.
