Having Fun with your Pets on Labor Day Weekend

Having Fun with your Pets on Labor Day Weekend

August has come to a close. It’s time to celebrate the last long weekend of the summer. Why not make sure to spend it with the whole family. Don’t leave your four-legged friends out of the fun this weekend. Check out these awesome ideas for having fun with your pets on Labor Day weekend.

Throw a pet-friendly cookout

Why should we bipeds have all of the fun of a Labor Day cookout? While you’re inviting your friends, encourage them to bring their social and friendly pets along too! Set up a little obstacle course for them to try out and they will have fun while harnessing their agility skills. Make sure to include your pets when planning the menu, fix up some pet treats, and another pet-friendly dining (just be careful to not feed them table scraps).  You can still have fun at a cookout while social distancing and observing proper COVID precautions.

Hit the lake or enjoy the park

Some parks with lake swimming will be closing soon. Make sure to soak up every last bit of fun in the sun by taking your pet to the park. Walk the trails, put your toes (or paws) in the water, and enjoy. If you’re looking for a good park, make sure to read our post on the Best Dog Parks in Elk Grove.

Go camping

Instead of just one day at the park, why not spend the whole weekend in mother nature? Set up a tent, hit the trails, take out a canoe if there’s a lake, hang out by the campfire and enjoy the great outdoors. Camping is a great way to relax and bond with your dog. You can find and compare dog-friendly campsites at PetFriendlyTravel.com.

Take a road trip to a pet-friendly inn

Labor Day snuck up on some of us (I know it did for me!). If you’re longing for a quick getaway but didn’t get a chance to plan a proper trip, take to the road anyway! Spontaneous road trips can be the best for either the beach or the mountains.

Whatever you decide to do, we at Karla’s Pet Care hope you enjoy a wonderful and safe weekend. And don’t hesitate to contact us if you need pet sitting services this Labor Day weekend, we’d be happy to help take care of your pets while you’re away for the day.
